The impact of the Internet in our society.

I believe the internet is most widely used by and has the biggest impact on the younger generation.  The younger generation of today is very interested in social media outlets and entertainment gossip websites like Face book and Twitter or TMZ and Perez Hilton.  I would say often times it seems like the younger generation is almost obsessed with social media and entertainment gossip.  So much so that many times this younger generation experiences some drastic life changing event like being fired from a job because they could not control their addiction to these websites during business hours or because they decided to speak their mind about their job on one of these sites. 

 For me many times the internet can act as a distraction, even though I may need the internet to accomplish some very important work I always find myself getting caught up in so and so’s status updates, the latest entertainment gossip or on shopping websites because of deals sent to me by email.  I also feel like the internet is designed to grab your attention at every turn, it's almost like the goal is to throw you off track and make you spend hours on end being completely unproductive. 

I believe everyone would have to be introduced to a new level of self control and discipline in order to not be completely consumed by the internet and all the different outlets just ready and waiting to suck you in and keep you captive for hours or even days on end.
